1. What types of roles are available with The Part-Time Finance People?
We offer freelance positions such as Senior Bookkeepers and Financial Controllers. These roles involve supporting SME businesses across the UK by professionalising their accounting functions, streamlining processes, and providing clear financial information.
2. Do I need to be self-employed to be with The Part-Time Finance People?
Yes, we are looking for self-employed finance professionals. If you are not currently self-employed but meet our criteria and are interested in transitioning to freelance work, we would love to hear from you.
3. What qualifications and experience do I need?
For Senior Bookkeepers, you should be qualified or part-qualified (AAT/IAB/ICB) with at least two years of relevant experience. For Financial Controllers, you need to be fully qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACMA/FCCA/ICAEW) or QBE (5+ years) with experience managing finance teams. Proficiency in accounting software like Xero, Sage Line 50, and/or QuickBooks is essential.
4. Do I need any specific insurances or registrations?
Yes, you need to have;
Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII)
Public Liability (PL)
Registration with the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office)
Recent AML (Anti-Money Laundering) training

5. What should I expect during the induction?
Our induction includes a two-day online training program followed by ongoing “Accelerator” sessions. This helps you develop technical knowledge, management skills, and build relationships with fellow team members. The training is free, and while we don't pay for your time, it’s our initial investment in each other.
6. How will I be paid?
We collect payment from our clients via Direct Debit 14 days after the end of the month and make payments to our finance professionals as soon as the money clears, typically around the 16th-17th of the month.
7. How often will I need to travel?
Our Principals may need to travel up to 45 minutes from home. Some roles might require specific travel, this will be detailed in the job description of the role.
