About the Role:

We are looking for a part-time Financial Controller to join our central team, supporting a network of finance proffessionals who work with various UK SMEs. This unique role goes beyond typical financial controller duties, focusing on quality assurance, peer mentoring, and ensuring the delivery of client services at the highest standard.

As a key member of the team, you will work closely with other finance professionals to guide them in best practices, conduct quality checks on financial reports, and hold colleagues accountable for achieving service levels and quality standards. The role offers flexible working arrangements, with a commitment of 3 days per week. 

We welcome applicants based in the UK and happy to visit our Farnborough office once or twice a month.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Peer Mentoring: Provide expert guidance to Principal finance professionals, sharing best practices and supporting their growth.
  • Quality Checking: Review financial reports and supporting documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards.
  • Client Deliverable Review: Monitor the achievement of client deliverables, ensuring deadlines and quality expectations are met.
  • Performance Accountability: Hold colleagues accountable for agreed service levels and quality standards, addressing any issues promptly.
  • Support for Subcontractors: Act as a central resource, providing financial and operational expertise to help subcontractors optimize client work.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of UK experience as a Financial Controller, ideally across various sectors.
  • Strong background in financial reporting, compliance, and quality assurance, with attention to detail.
  • Experience mentoring or coaching finance professionals and helping others achieve high standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.

£50k FTE
